india-us

the prime minister is back to home to handle his daily affairs after a historic visit to united states.he has to silence his critics now particularly the left and the bjp.the lest, one of the coalition partner has always been against the govt policies and this time also was not a surprise.the bjp did spare some time from the "family" feud to point fingers at the deal, that too before the left could do so,inorder to prove itself an effective opposition.the fact however is that this step was initiated by the former pm vajpayee.manmohan singh was given a red carpet welcome, the first for any indian pm.infact, the "musharraf man" was forced to cancel his us trip when he was denied the same welcome as to his indian counterpart.manmohan singh signed the deal under the nssp(next step in strategic partnership).india has been recognised as "the responsible nuclear state",allowing her to buy the much needed nuclear fuel for her dying nuclear plants.in return india has agreed to seperate its civilian and military sites and bring the former under the international safeguards.the nuclear energy accounts for only 2-3% in power generation as compared to about 70% in france.india has been aiming to generate 20000-30000mw from nuclear energy apart from the aimbitious fast breed reactor.however these plans were backfooted when india was blacklisted after pokhran blasts in 1998..bush has promised to emend the existing us laws and persuade her allies to supply the reuired infrastructure to india.britain, the biggest ally(read "biggest chamcha") of us initially denied to have any nuclear relations with india but soon pledged to follow the us line.it now remains sen as of when and how us fulfills her promises which, according to experts, will be a formidable task given the decreasing popularity of bush.

the broadband experience

it has been a month since my broadband connection was finally installed at my house.i was all excited about it,wanting to download as much as possible though there is alimit.but soon my honeymooon with the broadband was over when 10 days later the link broke down.the link took 3 days and a strong effort from my side to get restored.i had to call the customer care all the 3 days so as to remind the engineers of my problem.mind u,these calls to them were not toll free,so i was just inflating my monthly telephone bill.also i had to bear the irritating advertising offers during the calls baffling me even more.anyways i was back on net after 3 days.

but this repair was not to last too long when the link severed down again after 2 days.i had to again rely on those customer care executives.i had already experienced their services,so in a way i was prepared for them.i had to call them five days in a row without any denouement.finally,my patience broke down and i banged at their office doors but again with no use.i was told the engineer will come today to restore the link.your complaint has been recorded. and my day ended waiting for that guy called engineer.this continued for almost a week.i felt i had no right to criticize the customer care. Finally after a strenous effort in this hot and humid weather and a "brief" period of 12 days,i was again able to surf the net.people castigate the govt companies for their slackness but what would you call this(mind u, this is a pvt company)??mine is not the only example, but we have a very common example of this in the field of power and electricity.it seems the pvt companies have also joined the govt companies for the infamous title.

unfortunately,my agony did not end here.there was a bit more for me in the store.the company's site shows that i used the internet during that brief period also.however this time i was a bit lucky.without much problems,i was told i will get the credit for that "error".i had complaints of such high billing issues but could not prove it and this matter is still hanging with me tussling with the authorities.so im back on the net (lets see for how many days i am lucky this time...) downloading the softwares and hoping that-this downloading would not be interrupted soon...!!!
